If you are one of our tenants and you want to move home, you have three options available to you.

  1. You can apply for a transfer to another of our properties by calling the service centre on 0300 303 1771, choosing option 3, and asking for a transfer application form. Your transfer need will be assessed under our single banding system. As well as a transfer application form you will be sent a copy of the banding system and a guide to how it works.  If the area you are interested in has a choice-based lettings system, you may be advised by the service centre to apply directly.  If so, you will be given contact details.
  2. You can apply to the housing list of any local authority in the country by contacting them directly and asking for a housing application form or via their website. Please be aware that local authorities are entitled to give less priority to people applying from outside their area.
  3. You can make a mutual exchange with a tenant of any other social landlord in the UK. We have signed up to the nationwide mutual exchange scheme HomeSwapper, so our tenants can use this service free of charge. If you register with them, we will be asked to confirm that you are a tenant of ours, so that we will be charged, not you. If you are a tenant and already using HomeSwapper independently, you can re-register as a Southern Housing Group tenant and you will not have to pay any more fees.

Homeswapper is a website that holds details of mutual exchanges to and from areas across the country. You can use it to look for a mutual exchange to another property by logging on at www.homeswapper.co.uk. If you do not have access to the internet, HomeSwapper can still send you details of suitable exchange partners, via your mobile phone.
