Group welcomes residents to new Wokingham scheme

Residents Stacey and Tristen Ryan in front of their new home

One of the largest housing associations in South East England welcomed its first residents to their new homes at Wayside, Old Forest Road, on Monday 7 December 2009.

Development Officer, Abigail Morrow, welcomed new resident, Stacey Ryan, 20, and her two-year old son, Tristen, to their new build home, which is ideally placed close to the M4 and M3 and within easy reach of Wokingham town centre.

Stacey said:

“We are really enjoying our modern new home. Tristen has scooped the largest room! We’re close to town, which is really handy for shops, and Tristen will be starting the local nursery next year.”

Abigail said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Stacey and Tristen to the scheme. The development is made up of a mixture of flats and houses, and it’s great to see families moving into their new homes.”

The development includes a number of environmental features, including photo voltaic roof panels, which will provide environmentally-friendly energy to light communal areas within the flats.

All units have met level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes, which measures the sustainability of new homes in support of the Government’s 2016 zero-carbon target. The homes have battery operated carbon monoxide detectors, and all the homes offer a high internal specification.

Southern Housing Group’s homes at the scheme are part of a mixed tenure development in partnership with developers Taylor Wimpey UK.
