South region Residents' Conference

Residents and staff in Brighton at the 2008 Resident ConferenceThe South region is holding its 2009 residents conference on 20 June, at the Holiday Inn, Brighton.

This year, the event will include interactive sessions, including role play exercises and discussions, where residents will be encouraged to give us their opinions on the services we provide. It will also explore the challenges of tailoring services to meet the needs of a diverse audience.

We are also delighted to be joined by Roanna Simmons, a member of the women’s Deaflympics football team, who will talk about her experiences of being a deaf athlete and the obstacles she has overcome to achieve her aims.  Roanna is a shared owner with the Group and recently received funding from the Foundation to support her training for the Deaflympics taking place in September 2009 in Taiwan.

The conference will provide a great opportunity for residents to talk to staff and find out more about how to get involved in Southern Housing Group activities.

Guy Collar, Regional Director for the South region, commented: “These events are always popular and a great chance for local residents to meet our staff and talk to us about their needs in a relaxed and informal environment. We are continually trying to improve our services and this is an excellent opportunity for residents to give us direct feedback.

“We hope the day will be fun, informative and interesting and we look forward to welcoming our residents on the day.”
