New Working Opportunities grant launched

Residents can now apply for a Southern Housing Group grant to help them back into work with the new Working Opportunities Fund. The grant is for up to £500 to help residents looking for help and support into employment and can be used for a variety of purposes including:

  • Buying clothing for interviews
  • Buying work tools
  • Covering the first month of travel costs
  • Contributing to childcare costs
  • Registering with accredited professional bodies

Commenting on the scheme, Employment and Training Project Manager, Tim Lovett, said:

“We consider each application on an individual basis, and applicants are expected to make a contribution to the costs themselves. We hope this scheme will make it easier for residents to find the job they want, and have the resources to keep it.”

Other grants available to residents include:

  • The Sir Ashley Bramall Memorial Fund - grants toward eductional costs
  • Small grants for resident groups
  • Foundation Sports Fund
  • South Wight Training adn Eductaion Fund
  • Small grants for external organisations

You can apply for a Working Opportunity Grant by downloading the Working Opportunities Fund application form, and Application Guidelines as Word files. The grant is available to all Southern Housing Group limited residents.
