13 November 2009

The Armouries in WoolwichSouthern Housing Group opened its doors to a wave of interest for its suite of affordable homes at the Armouries in Woolwich on Friday 6 November.

The Armouries is part of the historic Royal Arsenal, one of the most prestigious regeneration projects in the south-east of England.

The Armouries has been transformed into high quality, affordable homes, situated close to the River Thames. The vibrant new community benefits from excellent transport links, including national rail and the DLR service – and the arrival of Crossrail will make travel across the capital even more convenient.

Under Southern Housing Group’s Homeflex scheme, people can rent or buy a riverside home for less than the market value thanks to its Government-funded New Build HomeBuy and Intermediate Market Rent options.

New Build HomeBuy is ideal for people who want to buy a home but can’t afford to buy outright. One and two bedroom apartments at the Armouries are available from £43,750 based on a 25 per cent share of a one bedroom property with a full market value of £175,000.

With Intermediate Market Rent, one and two bedroom apartments start from £600 per calendar month - 80 per cent of the full market value. Both options are available to people who do not currently own a home and earn less than £60,000 a year per household.
